I have been playing hockey since I was 5 years old. My mother signed me up for figure skating but I refused to get off the ice and stayed and played hockey in my figure skates with the boys. From the moment my hands touched that hockey stick, I was hooked. I love the graceful feeling you get when you're gliding on the ice, I love hearing my heartbeat in my head and skating faster and faster in hopes of keeping up with my racing heart. The sound of my skates carving into the ice and the rattling of the boards is the rhythm I live by. I love getting up before the sunrises and heading to the rink; my home away from home.
My proudest hockey memory is my sophomore year of high school. I had transferred to Fontbonne Academy from Mount Alvernia because I knew that if I wanted to play college hockey, I'd have to have played high school hockey as well and Mt. Alvernia did not have a team. I petitioned for one with several other girls but our efforts were futile so I left. I helped bring my team to the TD Bankgarden all three years I attended Fontbonne but nothing will beat my first year as a Fontbonne duck.
STATES: round 1 - Fontbonne vs. Boston Latin Academy
round 2 - Fontbonne vs. Notre Dame Academy
round 3 - Fontbonne vs. Duxbury
finals - Fontbonne vs. Whitman Hanson. Fontbonne wins.
I will save the story of my road to victory for my next blog! Thanks for reading, criticizing, laughing, hating, whatever :) byeeee
